How points work

What's open (places)

Once enough members who know it tick "I have been here". Adding a place earns nothing until then, which keeps the directory honest.

Use "Suggest a change" on a place's page to fix or add its hours, phone, website, address, map pin or category. Points when the organiser approves it, once per place.

In Quick check, or on the "Do you know these places?" card that appears now and then. Points straight away, for up to 10 places a day. Saying so on a place's own page earns them once others agree.

What's happening (events)

Scan the QR code the organisers show at the event. Most groups give 30; each group's page says how many.

Added when you check in at the door.

When you and another guest both ticked each other. Added when the match emails go out.

Neighbours for Hire

The person who posted the job answers "Did they do it?" on the job page. Points count 7 days later.

Once per member. Up to 300 Neighbours for Hire points a season in all.

Fair-play rules

• Points are only given for a job when the person who posted it confirms on the job page that it was done. Posting a job, offering to do one, or tapping "I need this too" earns nothing.
• Both accounts must be at least 14 days old, and each of you must already have 50 points from other things on the site (for example a game night or a confirmed place).
• The same two people earn job points together at most once every 60 days, whoever helped whom.
• Each member can earn at most 300 Neighbours for Hire points a season (1 June to 31 May), listing points included.
• Job points wait 7 days before they count, so the organiser can check them. Listing points count straight away, because the organiser has already checked the listing.
• Jobs made up to earn points, two accounts belonging to one person, or confirming a job that didn't happen will cost the points involved, and can close the accounts.
